the day of the service
Drive in the main entrance from Lexington Avenue and take a left at the T intersection, then take a right and follow the road. The Mausoleum Chapel will be on your left, the building with the red roof and granite walls. The containers with the babies’ remains will be on the bier directly in front of the altar. Each container is labeled with the hospital name, so people know which container their baby is in. Families are welcome to go up to the containers before the service.
After the service, attendees in vehicle procession will be lead to the burial site. At the burial site, everyone will have a chance to place flowers, mementos and handfuls or shovels of dirt in the grave before it is closed. Once the grave is covered, flowers may be placed on top of the grave as well.

This special service of remembrance is for anyone who lost a child before birth, whether recently or many years ago. During this ritual each family is called forth, where they may name their child. They also light a candle to honor and remember this child. Often called the hidden loss, by offering prayer services and rituals specifrically for those who have lost a child before birth helps make the loss visible to others and offers a safe place to acknowledge the child who died. All are welcome to this free event. No registration required.
